Cheaters

Of course there are selfish people, who get too clever for everyone's good.

They come up with plans where they think they can have their cake and stay thin too.

As you go through life, you often find ideas that seem like good ideas - but they are not.

One such idea is co-ownership. Some people can make it work for them. But for every person who makes it work, there are all of those for whom it was not a good idea.

It started out mostly as a way for breeders to buy a stud dog from out of town, a stud dog not related to the dogs they had.

It was unheard of to sell a puppy to pet home with a contract then.

That was back before the Internet when there wasn't a good way to find studs or puppies.

But with the crimp on breeding dogs as pets, the price of pet puppies has gone up and nasty people have used this to try to get the buyer to do their work for them, by making the buyer sign a contract to get a puppy.

IMO, a responsible dog registry would not have a place for co-ownership between the breeder and the pet buyer. Yes, I know lots of show breeders are reading this and grumbling "But that how I . . .

This isn't a show dog site. This isn't a puppy mill site.

People, remember NEVER buy half of a puppy.
